The Chroma 62000L Series Programmable DC power supplies have low noise linear performance and fast transient response. The units have many unique functions that are targeted for overall automated test system integration, automotive power electronics MCU/ECU, power semiconductors, wireless communications, etc. The 62000L Series is a high quality yet cost effective programmable DC Source, designed to meet the stringent requirements of the next generation of power electronics.

The GPIB and USB control interfaces come standard with the 62000L Series, no additional purchase required. The 62000L Series can be easily remote controlled via either of these two interfaces. The 62000L weighs less than 2.5 kg, and its case measures 214.6W * 88.6H * 280D mm. Its light weight and compact size makes it easy to handle and stack safely.

Auto-ranging allows you to freely adjust voltage and current. This feature eliminates the need to manually select the optimum range allowing all of the power to be available across all of the voltage and current settings

Autoranging Output

The 62000L Series Programmable DC power supplies have wide operating ranges. Chroma's model 62015L-60-6 for example, the output specification 150W/60V/6A can operate under different combinations as the figure shows below while other common DC power supplies can only achieve the maximum output power of a single point.

For wide range voltage and current applications, one DC power supply can be used to test the input of both low voltage/high current and high voltage/low current UUTs. When integrated into a standard ATE, one 62000L Series DC power supply can replace multiple DC power supplies to significantly reduce cost and save space.


Master-slave Control

The 62000L Series master-slave control has 4 modes listed as follows:

  • Parallel mode: The master-slave parallel control connects multiple power supplies to extend the current output.
  • Series mode: The master-slave series control connects multiple power supplies to extend the voltage output.
  • Normal mode: The master-slave normal control follows the delay time set by each power supply to output from the master.
  • Track mode: The master-slave track mode tracks each power supply to synchronize with the output voltage and status of master.

High Transient Response

The 62000L Series features the state-of-the-art DC power supply design with high transient response for output voltage. Take the model 62010L-36-7 for example, when the output current changes from 3.5A to 7A at the speed of 1A/us, the voltage change of actual output can return to 15mV within 10.1us.

For dynamic load change, the 62000L Series can quickly react in order to give a stable DC output, as well as reducing the surge voltage generated by load change that could damage the UUT. As to non-static products or test applications, the 62000L Series can timely provide a stable DC power supply.


Low output Noise

The 62000L Series provides pure and stable DC power. For example, the 62010L-36-7 output voltage noise is 1.18mVp-p (20~20MHz) under the maximum rated current and maximum output power.

For precision products that require strict power quality, such as semiconductor testing and IC drive, the 62000L Series is able to comply with the product specification to protect the UUT from the interference of heavy noise providing low ripple and low noise input power with pure quality.


Auto Sequencing Programming

The auto sequencing programming function built into the 62000L Series allows the user to define and edit the output waveforms and cycles desired. Using 8 steps per cycle, each step can set the time for voltage to rise or fall as well as to dwell. This function can also be applied to the waveform signal simulation test of power electronics and the power simulation test of automotive electronics by editing the required output voltages following the UUT test criteria.

Chroma's new 62000H Series of programmable DC power supplies offer many unique advantages for telecom, automated test system & integration, industrial, battery charge & simulation for hybrid cars and solar panel simulation. The latest programmable solar array simulator power supply 62000H-S Series released by Chroma provide simulation of Voc (open circuit voltage) up to 1800V and Isc (short circuit current) up to 30A. The 62000H-S provides an industry leading power density in a small 3U high package. The solar array simulator is highly stable and has a fast transient response design, which are both advantageous to MPPT performance evaluation on PV inverter devices.

The 62000H-S Series have many unique advantages including high speed & precision digitizing measurement circuits with a 100kHz A/D, 25kHz D/A controlled I-V curve and a digital filter mechanism. Solar Array I-v Curve Simulation Power Supply

The Model 62000H-S Series have a built-in EN50530 and Sandia's SAS model that can easily program the Voc, Isc, Vmp, Imp parameters to simulate different solar cell materials I-V characteristic outputs with fast response time. Moreover, the TABLE mode is capable of saving a 128~4096 point array of user programmed voltages and currents via a remote interface. It can easily create a shadowed I-V curve and the I-V PROGRAM mode can save up to 100 I-V curves and dwell time intervals (1-15,000s) in memory. These advantages provide steady repetitive control conditions required for PV Inverter design as well as for verification testing. The solar array simulator is ideal for the following testing:


  • Design and verify the maximum power tracking circuit and algorithm of the PV inverter.
  • Verify the high/low limit of operating input voltage allowed for the PV inverter.
  • Verify the high/low limit of operating input voltage allowed for the inverter's maximum power point.
  • Verify the static maximum power point tracking efficiency of the PV inverter.
  • Measure and verify the overall efficiency & conversion efficiency of PV inverter. (Requires an extra power meter)
  • Verify the maximum power point tracking performance of the inverter for dynamic curves. (EN50530, Sandia, CGC/GF004, NB/T 32004 standard)

Chroma's new 62075H-30N of ultra-high stability DC power supply offers many unique advantages for magnet power supply system in synchrotron application. These advantages include excellent current stability of 1.25mA/0.5 hour and 2.5mA/8 hour, extremely low current ripple of 2.5mA, current reproducible within 10mA, precision setting and readback of output current via 20 bit DAC/24 bit ADC.

The 62075H-30N output power has maximum 7.5kW/30V/250A power module designed with 4U height that can be connected easily as master or slave with three units to 22.5kW/30V/750A in parallel or two units to 15kW/60V/250A in series and operated as a standalone unit via system bus.

Chroma 62000B Modular DC Power Supply

Chroma's new 62000B series of Modular DC Power Supplies offer many unique features for Burn-in and plating/electrolysis applications. The features include a N+1 redundancy, high power densities, hot-swappable maintenance, remote ON/OFF and programmable control via the CAN bus.

The 62000B family offers 5 types of power module with ranging from 1V to 150V, current from 10A to 90A, and offers two mainframe type of six and three position. The six position mainframe can envelop in up to six power modules paralleled operation for 9KW power output. The 62000B can easily parallel up to fourteen mainframe to 120KW with current sharing and CAN bus control for bulk power applications.

The Modular DC Power Supplies of 62000B are very cost effective with high power density and low current ripple. These instruments have be designed for burn-in applications such as the LCD panels, DC-DC converters, power inverters, notebook computers, battery chargers and many other types of electronic devices.

Hot-swap Operation

Equipped with the functionality of N+1 redundancy and hot-swap, the 62000B Series of modular DC power supplies are most applicable for 24 hours non-stop applications such as the SMD plating production lines, as well as product life burn-in test for IT products like DC converters, LCD backlight inverters and routers.

For continuous operation applications the modular hot-swap design allows engineers to replace the failure unit on-site without shutting down the entire system.

High Power Applications with CSU

The 62000B modular power supplies are capable of providing high power output up to 120KW/2000A with minimal specification degradation via CSU(Control & Supervisor Unit). Each chassis is designed to accommodate a maximum of 9KW and include current sharing capability to ensure system stability. In addition, for convenient control of even large power systems, a CSU is provided to set and display output and protection circuits via a standard CAN bus communication protocol.

Chroma's new 62000P Series of programmable DC power supplies offer many unique advantages for ATE integration and testing. These advantage include a constant power operating envelope, precision readback of output current and voltage, output trigger signals as well as the ability to create complex DC transients waveforms to test device behavior to spikes, drops, and other voltage deviations.Designed for automated testing DC-DC converters and similar products, the 62000P sets a new standard for high accuracy programmable DC supplies.

The 62000P Series includes 12 different models ranging from 600W to 5000W, up to 120A and up to 600V. Due to their constant power operating envelope a single instrument can provide both high voltage/low current AND low voltage/high current thereby reducing the number of supplies needed in typical ATE applications.

The 62000P Series also includes 16 bit readback capability for accurate voltage and current readings. This means systems no longer need complex shunt/multiplexers to make accurate readings of the UUT's input parameters. The instruments also include I/O ports providing 8 bit TTLs, DC-ON, fault output signal and remote inhibit as well as a output trigger signal for system timing measurements.

Wide Operating Region With Constant Power

The 62000P Series supplies offer a wide operating region. For example, the output specification for model 62012P-80-60 is 1200W/80V/60A, it allows operating flexibly in various combinations as shown in the figure at the right. As shown conventional power supplies provide the same rated current at all output voltages, however, the 62000P provides greater current at lower output voltages. This means both low voltage/high current and high voltage/low current UUTs can be tested using a single supply avoiding the for multiple supplies saving cost and space within typical ATE systems.



Master / Slave Parallel & Serial Control

When high power is required, it is common to connect two or more power supplies in parallel or series. The 62000P Series supplies have a smart Master / Slave control mode making series/parallel operation fast and simple. In this mode the master scales values and downloads data to slave units so programming is simple and current sharing automatic.



Programming Sequences Applications

The 62000P Series supplies allow for 100 user programmable sequences with time settings ranging from 5ms to 15000s, voltage /current slew rate control and 8 bit TTL output for automated test applications. Applications include DC/DC Converter & Inverter voltage dropout testing, engine start-up simulation, battery automated charging, product life cycle testing and airborne avionics testing.
