Description

The Power Master is an ultra-portable, USB-based mmWave power analyzer that provides simple, numeric and frequency selective average power RF measurements. The Power Master features two frequency coverage options between 9 kHz to 70 GHz and 9 kHz to 110 GHz. The Power Master provides very broadband power range coverage with a floor as low as -90 dBm.

Many customers are challenged with finding an affordable power sensor that provides broadband frequency and power level coverage as well as a small foot print. The Power Master was created to minimize cost to the customer by removing expensive and unwarranted features that can drive the price of a standard mmWave sensor. The design of the Power Master was to mitigate long measurement times that can be experienced with other mmWave sensor products that are based on thermal components. The Power uses a receiver-based architecture that can not only reduce measurement time, but also allows for frequency-selectivity which provides a more accurate power measurement in the desired frequency band. For foot print, the Power Master is nearly the size of a smart phone, freeing up workbench space.

The Power Master is an all-purpose and robust mmWave power sensor that can used for stand-alone measurements or in a system for calibrating Vector Network Analyzers.

Description

The Anritsu MA24105A Inline Peak Power Sensor is designed to take accurate average power measurements over 2mW to 150 W, from 350 MHz to 4GHz. The sensor employs a "dual path" architecture that enables True-RMS measurements over the entire frequency and dynamic range allowing users to measure CW, multi-tone and digitally modulated signals such as GSM/EDGE, CDMA/EV-DO, WCDMA/HSDPA, WiMAX, and TD-SCDMA. The forward direction path also includes a 4 MHz bandwidth channel that has peak and comparator/integrator circuits that add measurement functions such as PEP power, crest factor, CCDF, and burst average power. Another detection circuit on the reverse direction adds reverse power measurement capabilities including reverse power, reflection coefficient, return-loss, and SWR. The presence of a micro-controller along with signal conditioning circuitry, ADC, and power supply in the sensor makes it a complete miniature power meter.

Description

The MA24106A power sensor is a USB power sensor that eliminates the need of a traditional power meter. It is a highly accurate, standalone instrument that communicates with a PC via USB. The power measurement capability of MA24106A is intended to mimic that of a traditional thermal (thermo-electric) power sensor with a wider dynamic range. Therefore, it is ideal for measuring average power of CW, modulated RF waveforms such as 3G, 4G, OFDM, and multi-tone signals. It measures true RMS power regardless of the type of the input signal. The presence of a micro-controller along with signal conditioning circuitry, ADC, and power supply in the sensor makes it a complete miniature power meter. The data display, acquisition occurs in the PC. The Anritsu Power Meter application for personal computers running Microsoft Windows™ can be used to control and operate the sensor. It is available standard with the product. The MA24106A is compatible with the MS272xB, MT8222A, MS202xA, MS203xA, and MS271xB instruments.

Presence of signal channel/analog signal acquisition HW and on-board (frequency as well as temperature) corrections eliminates the need for a reference calibration, simplifying the measurement process and reduction of test time in production.

Description

The sensors can be controlled with a PC and via PowerXpert™, a free of charge software application. The MA24126A Microwave USB Power Sensors are is also compatible with the Anritsu Spectrum Master, BTS Master, VNA Master and MS271xB Economy Microwave Spectrum Analyzers. The sensor easily connects to an instrument via a USB A/micro-B cable. The High-Accuracy Power Meter (Option 19) is a software option that enables the desired instrument to interface with the power sensor.

The MA24330A / MA24340A / MA24350A power sensor is designed to provide fast, accurate average power measurements from 10 MHz to 33 GHz / 40 GHz / 50 GHz over 90 dB of dynamic range. The sensor employs high-performance digital processing that enables measurements speeds of >2,100 continuous power readings/s and >5,600 buffered readings/s. A unique, low noise design eliminates the need to zero the sensor before taking measurements for most applications. The sensors have internal and external triggering capability that facilitates time-based measurements and the use of list mode to speed up automated processes. The sensor can be controlled with a PC via remote programming commands or with PowerXpert™, a free of charge software application. Description

The MA24400A USB Peak Power Sensor are designed to meet the challenges of signal measurement and characterization in a complex world of wireless communications. With industry leading rise time and video bandwidth (VBW) of up to 195 MHz (sensor dependent), Anritsu's USB peak power sensors are able to measure the peak power of wideband modulated signals, like 802.11ac, as well as pulses as narrow as 10 ns.

The MA24400A family also takes measurement speed and resolution to a new level. Other peak power sensors halt measurements while processing captured data. With real time processing of power readings, these sensors never miss a signal. Sampling rates of 100 megasamples per second continuous and 10 gigasamples per second effective provides best-in-class time resolution of 100 ps and the ability to measure 3 ns rise time. This means that even the smallest change in the signal will be caught and plotted for a full picture of signal behavior.

Supplied PC software offers an intuitive user interface to configure and display results. Available displays include simple peak and average power as well as a trace view for pulse power analysis and CCDF graphs.

Description

The Anritsu MA2400xA series thermal sensors are designed for use with the ML2430, ML2480 and ML2490 series power meters. These sensors provide excellent power measurement accuracy over 50 dB of dynamic range. Thermal sensors use Seebeck elements where the combined effect of a thermal gradient and charge migration between dissimilar metals gives a true reading of the average power of any incident waveform. Anritsu thermal sensors have class leading SWR and built in EEPROM with calibration factor and linearity correction data. This results in assured accuracy when measuring any signal.

Description

The Anritsu MA244XD standard diode sensors are designed for use with the ML2430, ML2480 and ML2490 series power meters. They are designed for high dynamic range, high accuracy CW and TDMA measurements. With their built in 3 dB attenuator, the MA244XD minimize input VSWR and are best used where the best measurement accuracy is required over a large dynamic range, for example when measuring amplifiers. These sensors have a dynamic range of 87 dB compared to the 90 dB of MA247XD standard diode sensors. In all other respects the performance of the sensors is identical to the standard diode sensor.

Description

The MA248xD series are true RMS sensors with a dynamic range of 80 dB. These power sensors can be used for average power measurements on CW, multi-tone and modulated RF waveforms such as 3G, 4G, and OFDM. The sensor architecture consists of three pairs of diodes, each one configured to work in its square law region over the dynamic range of the sensor. Therefore, it measures true RMS power regardless of the type or bandwidth of the modulation of the input signal. Option 1 provides TDMA measurement capability, calibrating one of the diode pairs for linearity over a wide dynamic range, thus making it a truly universal sensor.

The ML2437A Power Meter combines the advantages of thermal meter accuracy, diode meter speed, and peak power meter display graphics. The result is a single instrument that samples at more than 35K per second and achieves 90 dB dynamic range with a single sensor. This meter includes graphics display capability as a standard feature. The ruggedized housing and optional high-capacity NiMH battery bring laboratory quality accuracy to field service applications. ML2437A has one input, while ML2438A has two inputs.

Anritsu offers a comprehensive range of power meters. The ML2490A series has the performance required for narrow fast risingedge pulse power measurements (e.g. radar). The ML2480B series is suited for wide-band power measurements on signals such as LTE, W-CDMA, WLAN, and WiMAX™. The ML2430A series of power meters are designed for CW applications, offering a combination of accuracy, speed and flexibility in a low cost package.

20 MHz Instrument Bandwidth

Designed for accurate peak and average power measurements on 3G (W-CDMA), 4G (WiMAX™, LTE), and WLAN technologies.

Continuous Wave (CW) Meter Mode

High accuracy and high dynamic range CW power measurements - the 50 MHz/1 GHz calibrator calibrates all Anritsu sensors. Frequency is automatically selected.

The PSN50 High Accuracy Power Sensors are the latest addition to Anritsu´s handheld products. They are designed to provide field users with a practical power sensor solution for base station testing by delivering bench top accuracy to the field environment. The 50 MHz to 6 GHz PSN50 sensor delivers true RMS measurements from -30 to +20 dBm, enabling users to make accurate measurements for both CW and digitally modulated signals such as GSM/GPRS/EDGE, CDMA/EV-DO, WCDMA/HSDPA, and WiMAX™. The sensor connects to BTS Master and Spectrum Master™ products with the USB interface. The RS-232 serial port is used to connect to legacy handheld products.

50 MHz to 6 GHz Frequency Range

Accurate measurements over a wide frequency range.

-30 to +20 dBm Dynamic Range

True RMS measurements over a 50 dB Dynamic Range enabling users to make accurate CW and modulated power measurements. Important for service providers. A small error in power can have a significant impact on coverage area.

Cal Factor Correction

Improve overall accuracy by correcting for efficiency and mismatch losses.

Zero

Remove noise and improve overall accuracy for low level signals (< -20 dBm).

Averaging

Apply averaging to signals with high variation.

Max Hold

Displays the maximum value of the non-averaged data. Good for frequency hopping signals.

Limit Setup

Turns on limits and setup PASS/FAIL criteria for the measurements. The results are color coded: Green-Pass, Red-Fail.

Dual Display

View Power readings linearly in Watt and logarithmically in dBm without selecting the units.

Offset Compensation

Remove any attenuators connected to the sensor.

PSN50 CalXpert™

PSN50 CalXpert™ is a calibration wizard that guides you through the range connection test and performs the necessary operations to upload calibration data into the power sensor. It provides a convenient way to:

  • Perform range connection characterization
  • Upload the new range connection characterization data into the sensor
  • Upload 50 MHz sensitivity calibration and calibration factor data into the sensor*
  • Provide a report of new and old calibration data

As a precaution, PSN50 CalXpert™ will also retain a file of the old calibration data that the user can restore to the sensor using PSN50 CalXpert™ if required.

*PSN50 CalXpert™ does not control the full suite of equipment to obtain sensitivity calibration and calibration factor data - it is assumed that users have access to an appropriately equipped calibration lab to obtain this data. PSN50 CalXpert™ can be used with a PC to read the responses of the power sensor during the gathering of calibration factor and sensitivity data
